Five Discovery World Experiences You Can’t Miss!
Crisp as an apple, cold like stone. Mornings like stained glass. Evening fog that curls around the streetlamps and shrouds the moon. Ghoulies and ghosties and long-leggedy beasties and things that go bump in the night. October is brilliant. October at Discovery World is even more brilliant. Here are five astounding October Events at Discovery World that you and your family simply cannot miss.
It begins sweetly (and innocently) enough, like a fairy tale. Learn to spin sugar and create edible spider webs that taste like root beer or candy corn. In this creative, hands-on workshop, you and your family will explore the art of cotton candy and make and take home your own customized flavor.
Each workshop is FREE with general admission and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Due to the hot sugar temperatures and fine motor skills needed, adult supervision is required.
If fish could dream, they would have nightmares about these denizens of the abyss. Many of these creatures of the deep have both a terrifying appearance AND the ability to glow, which makes them awesome subjects for a print-it-yourself, glow-in-the-dark Halloween mini poster. This is a family-friendly experience. Adult assistance is recommended.
What do we love almost as much as we love science? Science fiction. Spaceships with warp drives and hyperdrives. Empires and Federations. Aliens. Robots. Androids, cyborgs, and replicants. Hyper-intelligent, pan-dimensional mice. Time travel. Time travel in a box that’s bigger on the inside. Time travel in a DeLorean®. Monoliths and magic laser swords.
Sci-Fi Family Day is back at Discovery World! It’s a brilliant day for the entire family to celebrate the fun, inspiring, and imaginative Multiverse of science-fiction.

Haunted houses are… okay. Haunted corn mazes are nice, probably. Have you ever explored a Haunted Ship? This October, we’re transforming Discovery World’s tall ship, the Sailing Vessel (S/V) Denis Sullivan, into a haunted schooner, filled from bow to stern with ghouls, ghosts, and goblins.
Climb aboard for some astonishing tricks (and treats!) that our good captains and crew have waiting for you. Come dressed as a pirate or your favorite sci-fi character! Each tour lasts approximately 20 minutes. The last tour leaves 20 minutes prior to listed end time.
This is the big one, the night we can’t wait for. It’s the best family-friendly Halloween event in Milwaukee and one of the best nights on our entire calendar.
It will be creepy, crawly, and positively spooky. It will be terrifyingly interactive. It’s only for our fantastic Discovery World Members.
Go Trick-or-Treating throughout Discovery World. Enjoy FREE tours aboard the Haunted S/V Denis Sullivan. And visit Tony the “Bug Whisperer” and his Creepy-Crawly Zoo!

Make custom Lip Balm infused with the flavors of Autumn in the THIRST Lab. Play with Dry Ice and create your very own Crystal Ball that you can use to “peer into the future”. There will also be very special, very haunted projects in the Kohl’s Design It! Lab
