Job Summary
We are looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals, passionate about working with youth, to work closely with Summer Camp leadership to implement and oversee the Summer Camp Program. Summer Camp Support Staff work Monday through Friday on a staggered schedule between 7:30am and 6:00pm. This position begins as soon as possible and goes until August 26th, 2022.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitate daily camp operations such as camper check-in, lunch, snack, recess, and check-out
  • Lead games and activities and interact with students at lunch, recess, and other play times
  • Enforce behavior protocols, help children resolve conflicts appropriately, and intervene when children are having behavior issues
  • Oversee the organization of all summer camp documents including health forms, field trip permission slips, weekly rosters, and other relevant camp documents
  • Maintain the organization and inventory of supplies, assemble and deliver weekly supply bins
  • Check on the daily upkeep of the labs and lab materials
  • Assist with camp errands, making reservations, communication with parents, and other duties as assigned
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues
  • Communicate with the Summer Camp Manger and Coordinator and/or parents about camper experiences
  • Adhere to Discovery Worlds safety protocols, including COVID-19 policies and procedures
  • Act as a substitute teacher for camps in instances of staff illness or emergency

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

  • One year of experience working in a classroom, camp, or other related experience
  • High school diploma required, degree or enrollment in Education or related fields a plus
  • Must enjoy a fast-paced environment and have experience working with youth
  • Flexible, problem-solver and willing to perform a wide variety of tasks to help the team
  • Must be willing to follow the Discovery World COVID-19 Operating Plan policies and procedures
  • Comfortable assisting with camps focused on an array of subject matter including science, technology, design, and engineering
  • Must demonstrate organizational skills and extreme care for details
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people and shows excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision
