Volunteering

We need you! As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we rely on our dedicated volunteers to help us light the spark of curiosity and ignite a love of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in children and their families.

How can you help? You can help repair exhibits, work in our office, deliver educational programming to the public, assist with special events, or even serve as a crew member aboard our tall ship, the Sailing Vessel (S/V) Denis Sullivan.

Over the past year, more than 500 volunteers donated their time and expertise at Discovery World. To learn how you can become involved as an individual, family or corporate team, scroll down for details on how to ‘Join the Team!’ For further details, download our list of Frequently Asked Questions.

The Discovery World Volunteer Manager will be out of office on Maternity Leave, mid-August through October. All email correspondence sent to volunteer@discoveryworld.org or kchristman@discoveryworld.org will be forwarded to the Discovery World HR Department during this time. Please feel free to reach out to the HR Director, Caitlynn Jahr, directly if you have any questions regarding your volunteer service, or are in need of a record of your volunteer service hours: cjahr@discoveryworld.org, (414)765-1974.

New volunteers will still be accepted for the below roles, including S/V Denis Sullivan Sailing Volunteers, Divers, Aquarist Assistants, and Special Event Volunteers for Halloween Members Night. Acceptance of new volunteers for all other opportunities will be put on hold until the Volunteer Manager’s return. If you are interested in volunteering for a role not listed above, please feel free to submit a Discovery World Volunteer Application, and the Volunteer Manager will be in contact upon return in November.
