Join the Kohl’s Design It! Lab team as an ambassador to your school through the Design Futurist Internship Program. High school students who enjoy creating with their hands, tinkering, dissembling things and putting them back together, and learning new technologies for design are encouraged to apply. This opportunity not only allows students to explore and experiment with tools and materials of the industrial design world, but also gain experience in a professional and educational setting.
The Design Futurist Intern will work with the Kohl’s Design It! Lab team in the Quick Shop and throughout the museum. They will learn how innovation and design are taught in a public setting while gaining valuable customer services skills required in a professional setting. They will also learn how to use industrial design tools and equipment such as vacuum formers, heat sealers, cnc sample makers and laser cutters.
In exchange for your service as a Design Futurist Intern, you are given full access to the Kohl’s Design It! Lab twice a month during Studio Nights. These open labs give you the opportunity to use professional equipment including laser cutters, vacuum formers, and the cnc sample maker. Design Futurists are also invited to exclusive Master Series events throughout the year. Participants may arrange for academic credit through their school. The internship is unpaid.
