Robotics Week

March 28-31, 2018
10am-4pm

Sponsored by Rockwell Automation

Join us for a robot and technology invasion! This event will feature robots of all shapes, sizes, and uses with a chance to meet their makers. Local FIRST Robotics Teams of all levels, university students, and professionals will be showcasing their engineering skills along with robots built for competition, industry, and entertainment.

Join us for this spectacular event, and light the spark for a career path in robotics!

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28 to SATURDAY, MARCH 31

  • Rockwell Automation – Featuring a Lightening Demo which allows four players to compete in a game that tests your reaction time to a sequence of lights – similar to the start of a drag race.
  • Meeper Technology – meeperBOTS are remote-control, programmable BOTS with free controller App that makes your brick blocks come alive! Build! Code! Drive! Stop by the Meeper interactive booth to build a BOT, drive it, and even code it!
  • FRC 1675 – Ultimate Protection Squad – FRC1675, The Ultimate Protection Squad, is an award-winning team of students from several MPS high schools. Interact with Punisher, the team’s most decorated robot, drive a VEX robot, and make a button to take home.
  • Waukesha County Technical College – Race against a robot through a wire maze while being timed.
  • LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Robotic Demo – Enjoy these demos throughout the day!
  • Baxter – Join our resident robot for interactive demonstrations. You’ll be able to see how easy it is to “program” Baxter by teaching it what to do.
  • Spheros – These small spheroid robots are controlled from a tablet or smartphone. You’ll have a chance to operate a Sphero in a testing zone and see what kind of tricks they can do.
  • Cubelets® – Cubelets are a set of modular cube-shaped robots; some are motors, some are sensors, some are lights, etc. Cubelets are assembled by simply snapping them together – different combinations can create unique and innovative robots!

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28

  • SFROBOTICS – A team of students will be demonstrating a number of FIRST TECH Challenge robots as well as their MATE ROVs.

THURSDAY, MARCH 29

  • CooneyTech Robotics – CooneyTech Robotics’ competitive VEX and FIRST Robotics Teams with their respective competition robots for the 2017-2018 year will be here! Learn the basics about robotics through discussions with the team members, and get the chance to drive practice and competition robots.
  • 2202 BEAST Robotics – Want to see a robot up close?! Check out the FIRST Robotics Team 2202 BEAST Robotics robot and the FIRST Tech Challenge Team 13201 with their robot too! You can see the robots in action and also see them up close to see the electrical and mechanical design that goes into building these awesome machines.
  • Magee Engineer’s FIRST Lego League Featuring this year’s project, “Filtering the Muck”, and the team’s resulting robot, the “Bionator”.
  • FRC Laser Robotics (Team 2077)- See the all-girls Lego Lasers demonstrate an app they designed to gamify and save water in the shower, along with their robot “Bolt” run various missions related to the human water cycle.

FRIDAY, MARCH 30

  • Maker Faire Milwaukee – Enjoy demonstrations, hands-on projects, and some special guests from Maker Faire.
  • SFROBOTICS – A team of students will be demonstrating a number of FIRST TECH Challenge robots as well as their MATE ROVs.
  • Johnson Controls & Society of Automotive Engineers – Join Johnson Controls & Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International) for a fun activity specifically designed for you! Build your own Fuel cell car or Jet toy with the assistance offered by our coaches. Sign your car and take it home!
  • Dam Builders – Visit with the team that was 1st in the game and won the programming award at the Appleton Regional.
  • Lab Midwest – Experience a High Speed Industrial Robot from FANUC.
  • FVL-D – Have you ever met a VEX robot that has a mobile goal and a cone lift? Now you will! You’ll experience a demonstration of how the robot moves, picks up, and holds mobile goals and cones. Plus, learn about the VEX Robotics program!

SATURDAY, MARCH 31

  • Maker Faire Milwaukee – Enjoy demonstrations, hands-on projects, and some special guests from Maker Faire.
  • Robotics Education and Competition Foundation –Visit the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation booth and participate in a Robot Driving Challenge and a Robot Coding Challenge! Learn about the VEX Robotics Competition and explore ways to participate in the upcoming VEX Robotics season.
  • RoboChix – Come and visit the RoboChix, FTC robotics team! Learn to drive a robot and have some fun making a robot mask.
  • FLL Team 5459 and 5465 – The teams will show off the 2017-2018 State Championship robots and also demonstrate their award-winning research project on water production.
  • Rockwell Automation Lab: Amazing LEGO® MINDSTORMS® WorkshopJoin us for a celebration of Robotics Week and learn how to program a robot! LEGO® Mindstorms® have made it possible to bring your LEGO® creations to life with motors, sensors, lights, and sounds. This guided experience will teach you how to make a mobile robot go where you want it to, avoid obstacles, and even make decisions. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult – families are welcome to participate together. Lab times are:
    • 10:30-11:30am
